Sub-Atomic Leslie Come From Behind to Win!

4/10/2012

Picture
Turns out there's nothing Sub-standard about Sub-Atomic Leslie. Not only did they 'come from behind' (oops pardon) to win the quiz - Team Captain Lucy knew the answer to The Beast's Bastard Question too. Only bad news was Ken who had come up to face The Beast had other ideas and overruled Lucy. Ouch.

It means The Beast keeps the cash and rolls it up to £50. Thankfully Funnest Team B&H did a terrific Jimmy Savile inspired poster to help draw the crowds next week.

A busy night in Bar Gallus - The Honeymonsters had another 5-point bonus round win to take a lead that only they could throw away - so here's how it finished...

Sub-Atomic Leslie  Winners

Next week then it's £50 and I promise to award the Funnest Team accolade to a joke that doesn't involve Creme Brûlée.

Bottle Merchants Hold Bottle + Booze + Cash!

27/9/2012

Picture
This money is all mine!
A bustling night in Bar Gallus with big winners. Usually The Bottle Merchants "bottle it", but Sex Machine Chris wasn't one to be swayed by the crowd and so stuck to his guns despite being disowned by his team mate.

Lucky for Gallus's funkiest bottle he was right to ignore the crowd and so claimed £175 to leave The Beast crying like a racist baby.

Only one team name was so sick that when I read it aloud a bit of my soul died. Thankfully only one team complained - not about my soul dying, about the bad taste team name.

Here's how it ended...
The Bottle Merchants Cash & Booze Winners
Sub-Atomic Leslie
MBST
The Honeymonsters & FUD
B&H
As I Read This I am Concealing a MASSIVE Boner
Quizzly Bears
My Cousins a Tart
That's Between me and My Priest
And with the most points...
Shared Applause

It started well for Quizzly Bears who took an early lead - until a Titanic disaster of a music round. Honeymonsters then took hold of the pack - but no-one could stop the awe of Sex Machine Chris after The Bottle Merchants won the Bonus Points.

A big welcome back to My Cousins a Tart, and Atomic Leslie who will no doubt be forces to be reckoned with chasing next week's £25.

Chowmein!

3 Champion Teams Win!

12/7/2012

Picture
A busy night in Bar Gallus with multiple winners...

Handsfree Lightsabres booked their place at my Champions Quiz and were awarded funnest team for a joke so funny it's in my weekly email.

Honeymonsters - Virgins until they were 13 GAMBLED and came up smelling of Tuborg as they claimed the winners prize.

The other main winner of the night was 50 Shades of Gay and timezone expert Stu here who got his hands on the £150 cash jackpot - nice work. Michael Barrymore's Swimteam suggested they might use it to put animals up their arses. Just jealousy I'm sure...

Here's how it finished...
Honeymonsters - Winners
Spudguns
The Bottle Merchants
50 Shades of Gay
- Cash Champs
50 Shades of Desperate
Michael Barrymore's Swim Team

Atomic Leslie
Jade Goody's Hairdryer
Quizzley Bears
Sober Team = Poor Result
Me, Myself & I
Handsfree Lightsabres
Power Bottom for Jesus
Steptoe & Son

A big well done to The Handsfree Lightsabres who became the first team to secure their place at my Champions Quiz extravaganza.

Next week the cash jackpot is back to £25, but the banter will be worth twice that.

Team IAIN win, but the Jackpot Rolls up to £150!

5/7/2012

Thanks quiz kittens for another top Gallus quiz.

My highlight of the night had to be Calum from winning Team IAIN coming up to size up the golf WITHOUT his glasses.

He gave it a go and fairly obviously missed.
Gonnae get yersel to Specsavers pal!

In other news poor Diane left with NOTHING after The Beast was cruel. Sorry Quizzly Bears - next time and all that.

Here's how things finished...

1. Team IAIN  Winners
2= Bar Staff
2= Atomic Leslie
3. Bottle Merchants
4. Quizzly Bears
5. Alky's on Tour
6. Cosmo and Wanda
7. The Clydebank Mass Debating Team
8. Pull Out Before You Quiz
9. Down Under

Another highlight of the night was The Alkies giving me a battery operated fan that had disco lights on - I was the envy of the entire pub. Thanks Alkies.

A question in next week's quiz will be here in advance to help you and in the meantime there's my online quiz to keep you happy until you win £150 next week.

Spudguns Win as Jackpot rolls up to £75

14/6/2012

Picture
At Bar Gallus tonight it was the second quiz in a night for Handsfree Lightsabres as they stumbled in pissed from The Pourhouse and still managed joint 4th place.

It was a night to celebrate for Spudguns who won just about everything - except the cash as Sharon couldn't stop it rolling over to £75 next week.

In a shock final round it was regular high scorers Atomic Leslie who ended up in last place with the round of applause.

Here's how it finished...
Spudguns          Winners & Funsters
The Bottle Merchants & The Incredible Adam Thacker
Scrambled Eggheads

4= Handsfree Lightsabres
4= Inmates
4= I've Lost My Fiver
V.B.
Fitbin
Smarty Pints
Atomic Leslie
   Applause

Arriving just in time for the joke round was a large drunken group of folk - the bar staff! Judging by their friendly manner I am guessing they do love me, since they told me this 3 times. Thankfully their annual night out is not more regular.

Next week then it's a £75 jackpot and our goal is to stay as sober as the staff!

The Bottle Merchants Don't Bottle It!

31/5/2012

Picture

A boisterous night in Gallus where everyone had an opinion on whether it was higher or lower on the cards. Only chap that knew the answer was Chris.

According to his team mate Gillian, Chris is a cock. I was interested to see she didn't change her mind when he won the money. £50 quid up, and still a cock she said. Shame.

Rumour has it Barman Martin was pictured in the Picture Round sheet getting his end away, a gentleman never tells though - so we'll launch straight into where teams finished!

Danny McGrain Loves Bacon     Winner
Spudguns
The Bottle Merchants
Atomic Leslie
Jack Douglas Tea Set
6= Scott and The Quiffs
6= Inmates
8=Handsfree Lightsabres
8=2 Ladies & The Bastards
Michael Barrymore's Swimteam
Boaby Daft is Dead
Blood Sweat and Beers

We waved goodbye to Michael Barrymore's Swim Team who are off on a 3 week pool party - Ullapool that is. Next week half the money - it's back to £25 but it will probably be twice the fun!

Sir James

Handsfree Lightsabres do the Treble!

24/5/2012

Picture
Well done to winners Handsfree Lightsabres who secured a treble with an impressive jokes round - bonus points - booze win combo.

The only thing they didn't win this week was the cash jackpot - but surely with the £275 they won last week, they should be ok for a bit?

It means the cash jackpot rolls over and up to £50.
A life changing amount of money. If you live in Dundee.

Here's the final order of teams...
Handsfree Lightsabres            Winners, Funsters & Bonus Round Bandits!
Atomic Leslie + the lovely Amy
The Cunts in the Corner
Not Staying Alive
Jeremy Beadle's Slow Satisfying fisting AKA Norfolk & Chance
IAIN
Anyone for Chinese?
Sonic Death Monkey's Spunky Jetpack
Big Kahuna Burger                 Applause

It was a half-hearted round of applause for The Kahuna, which was a shame, cos they were up against it. Not only did their rivals have more points and greater numbers of players, but they also had a lot of Chinese food too. Wierd.

Is it national eat Chinese food day again and no-one told me?

Plan for next week is get your team to win the £50 and buy me Chinese food please.
Thanks & love

Sir James
