The Bottle Merchants dominated the quiz tonight. Only the FUD could come close to MINDFUCKING them away from the winners prize. In an evening of high-score quizzing The Bottle Merchants claimed victory by only getting ONE answer wrong. An awesome night for The Bottlers.

Former champions Handsfree Lightsabres were obviously too tanked up on St Enoch’s Xmas Market “Mulled Cider” - rumour has it the main ingredient is Frosty Jack’s. Awkward.

The Beast was on erratic form, stopping the FUD from his usual mindfuck routine and helping The Honeymonsters win the cash! Here they are making holes in the cloth on the pool table to celebrate their win.

Next week then it’s another £25 cash giveaway in Gallus.

After putting Michael Barrymore's Swimteam off against The Beast last week The FUD reaped the rewards tonight by taking the £100 home all to himself!

Unfortunately it means this corking poster is immediately useless. Shame.

It was the night of The FUD as The FUD won the £100 cash jackpot and the case of beer. The only thing he didn't do was get a round of applause after doing a magic show.

That accolade went to Thurso Always Wins who bent this fork and then took their clothes off. As you can see, the fork is now of no use to man or beast. I believe it is also what happens if you put a fork from Ikea in the dishwasher... 

The highlight of the quiz had to be the Fun Round magic show from Thurso Always Wins. So fun it made Man City's 1-1 draw in the Champions League look decidedly dull...

I'll be back next week with a slightly smaller cash jackpot and a bit fresher since there is no need for me to rush to the quiz from Finnieston.

With any luck none of my cutlery will be damaged next time...

A subdued night in Gallus...
 
We had 11 quizteams, but unusually there were a few spare tables! 
No doubt everyone is saving themselves for next week's double dip quiz - when there's the chance to win the at the Pourhouse with a pie from 6:30pm and then onto Bar Gallus...

Handsfree Lightsabres were at the Bungo quiz last night getting some practice in, and their strategy seems to have worked as they had a comfortable lead most of the night. In the end it came down to a single point between the Sabres and the 2nd place Swimteam, but it was the Sabres who triumphed!

An intriguing turn of events as much maligned Honeymonsters accused Handsfree Lightsabres of not having a life outside the quiz. That's the same Honeymonsters that came to all my quizzes the other week in case you're wondering. Reminds me of the time John Terry called a referee a philandering racist. I wonder if they meant to ask what Handsfree Lightsabres are doing when they aren't winning a quiz? No sour grapes here I'm sure...

Funsters Steptoe and Son were overjoyed to avoid the round of applause.
They were so happy with their performance they started making plans to bring a bigger team next time - steady on lads! As you can see from their beautiful poster it's a £100 rollover situation next week.

It was one of the many John's from Michael Barrymore's Swim Team who was beaten by The Beast, so to cheer him up I posted a classic Barrymore clip on his Facebook. I'm good like that.

They were out in the lead (as is so often the case early on) when they GAMBLED for big bonus points.
The extra points they claimed here made all the difference.

As you can see here, they LOVE Carlsberg.

A terrifyingly scary night of halloween costume quiz tomfoolery in Gallus this week. Top marks for costumes went to The Smurfs of Smurf Hunt and the clown from Krusty Runtz. 

The vast majority of teams had made an impressive fancy dress effort with only a few civilians in plain dress - it certainly explains why quiz team Misfits didn’t feel at home. Awkward.

Highlights of the night are almost too numerous to mention and range from Pecan Pimps bringing me a homemade Pecan tart (scrummy) to the fantastic cross dressing antics of Captain Fanny and Optimus Cock who came as each other.

My favourite team name of the night was the AKIKO Team who kept coming up with suggestions that their sexy Japanese team mate AKIKO was blocking up the shitter with her frequent enormous stools. Hilarious.

The Quizzly Bears won last week’s pumpkin design contest and as you can see Peter from behind the bar carried on the brilliant job carving with this Bar Gallus tribute pumpkin. Felicity looked very scary. As usual.

The jokes were classic and it was a Smurf gag that won unanimously with this...

Why was 6 afraid of 7?
Because 7 was a registered 6 offender.

An unusual moment in the Fun Round involved the clown reciting a limerick. I think if she had sounded terrifyingly scary she might have won, but as it was the Smurfs were deserved champions this time.

Another jokes entry was the condom and lipstick come-on from cross dresser Optimus Cock. Needless to say that was an invitation I felt obliged to turn down.

Janet from winners Handsfree Lightsabres smashed the cards, but was beaten by The Beast - so it’s a £50 rollover next time.
