Lightsabres Don't Need Bazookas to Win!

28/2/2013

Picture
A big well done to Handsfree Lightsabres who didn't need bazookas to blast their way to victory tonight in Bar Gallus. Here they are with a case of proof that they are the best team ever in the world*.

*Best team in Bar Gallus tonight.

These guys were the biggest and funnest team...
Picture
Here's a close-up of their poster and the Fun Book illustration that inspired it. I can only imagine what drew this lot to the Royal Wedding Tribute page of the Fun Book. They must be Monarchists...

At the finale it was STD ridden Andrew from Michael Barrymore's Swim Team who got beat by The Beast. The FUD didn't come up with any mindfuck techniques this week - he did, however, claim he knew the answer. Mindfuck champion that he is...
Picture
So it's a £50 rollover next week then.
That's 5000 penny sweets for Andrew from MBST to take his mind off all his STD's.

Chowmein!

Team with Tarty Cousin hold their Bottle to win £75!

21/2/2013

A packed night in Bar Gallus, so much so that Lightning Cat and the Thunder Ferrets walked out before the quiz even started because there were no seats. Thankfully though, the Lightning Cats came back and managed to intimidate a couple out of their seats. Go get em tiger!
Here's How it finished...
The Bottle Merchants  Winners
2= Quizzly Bears
2= FUD
Handsfree Lightsabres
The Newbies
Abu Hamza's Sock Puppets
My Cousins a Tart  Cash Champs
Yelp Ma Boab
The Craig David Appreciation Society (He's great)  Funnest Team
Lightning Cat and the Thunder Ferrets
Borstal Boys
Call Me Barry Hill
Roses are Red, Violets are Glorious,
Never Sneak up on Oscar Pistorius
B&H  Applause
Normally The Bottle Merchants 'bottle it' before they can win, but this week it was like they 'just stepped out of a salon' as fringe-ninja Gillian came up to grab their winners beers. Here is the winning fringe. A thing of great beauty I'm sure you'll agree.

Best portrait of the night had to be the drawing of one of my quiz hunks by his team mate. I've put it here as a 'spot the difference' contest, as the resemblance is uncanny!

Big thanks to B&H for their fantastic poster design work. As usual their topical artistry is 'all that'.
Here's their donkey salami £100 rollover poster...
Picture
Picture
Top limerick of the night was this from the team of Yelp bloggers...
There was a young man with no malice,
Who had an incredible Phallus
He entered a pub quiz
Covered in man jizz
And now he's not welcome in Gallus!
Most commonly occurring joke of the night was the topical observation that Oscar Pistorius "doesn't have a leg to stand on" which would probably be more amusing if he didn't shoot his wife to death. Funniest joke of the night was judged to be this classic about bothering animals...
Q. How do the Welsh find the sheep in long grass?
A. Very satisfying.
Back at the quiz next week with more top banter I promise.

Handsfree Lightsabres Win Despite Janet Blasting Both Ends!

14/2/2013

Picture
As you can see, David has an enormous head.
For once in Bar Gallus we had a decent fitba match pre-pub quiz. About time.
The last few weeks it's been like watching the lower leagues mud wrestle.
But then, come to think of it - we were watching non-league mud wrestling channel...
Here's how it finished...
Handsfree Lightsabres: Please spare a thought for Janet who is currently exploding out both ends  Winners
2= La Triviata
2= Spudguns
British Columbian Cartel
Quiztopher Wobin
Chechnyan Moonshine
FUD
Quiz Akabusy
Michael Barrymore's Swimteam
Team Clueless
Free Tennents Allstars

A big thanks to all the quiz kittens who braved the footie louts for their quiz action, especially Spudguns who were shocked to have to sit at the bar because there were no seats. Outrage!

And if you want to see how Ian from Quiztopher Wobin went against the advice from the room to go for C instead of D - then you can as Quizguy Martin was on hand to record the cards finale...
Picture
Hello boys!
Picture
Next week a £75 rollover!
Next week the it's a £75 situation and I did promise to reveal whether it was dinosaur aids that killed the dinosaurs too.... Gives me something to do before next week!

Fud Mindfucks us again for a £50 Rollover!

7/2/2013

Picture
At Gallus there was a serious lack of excitement and interest in the football, so it was a great relief to everyone when the quiz started!
The most relieved and excited was The FUD who proved his quiz credentials in impressive style once more by getting FULL marks in the first round and winning by some margin.

Here he is lording it over us with his winners prize as usual!

Here's how it ended...
The Fud  Winner
The French are Wankers
Michael Barrymore's Swimteam
Quiz Ackabusi
Spudguns
Diet Handsfree Lightsabres
Quizzly Bears - Grr!
Filthy Animals
Primoth
E=MCHammer2  Fun Guys & Applause
Picture
E=MCHammer were not only the funnest team, they were the losers too as they got the round of applause. They came up with a selection of possible jackpot posters to advertise next week's £50 rollover.
Picture
Here's a closer up shot of their poster designing. The team were very offended when I said their poster wasn't suitable to go up in the window, but they assured me it was a safety pin on the nappy and not what I (and everyone else) mistook it for. Thank god for that.

Turns out funnest team member Stephen claims to be the designer of the Loch Ness Pongster in The Joke Book in my Online Shop. That was his last (and first) time at the pub quiz back in 2010, so I wouldn't exactly say he was a regular!
Next week then, it's a £50 situation.
