Fact Hunt hunt enough facts to claim a Win!

25/10/2012

Picture
Another intriguing night in Bar Gallus. Honeymonsters were after their 4th quiz victory in 4 nights and started strongly. The start of the end was the bonus round contest being won for 5 points to eventual winners Fact Hunt pictured above.

It was so close that in the final round a Honeymonster change of mind was the difference between winning and second place. Now, in my books second place is a decent result. But for the Honeymonsters only winning is good enough...

There were some top quality pumpkin designs for next week's fancy dress halloween spectacular. The bar staff promise me they will choose the best and put pro-pumpkin carver Peter to work. I can only assume he has adult supervision while carving...

Here's how it finished...
Fact Hunt  Winners
The Honeymonsters
FUD
My Cousin's a Tart
Sub-atomic Leslie
Michael Barrymore's Swimteam

= Team GB
= Handsfree Lightsabres  £100 Winners
Jim'll Fuck it
Quizzly Bears: Give us points or the badger gets it
Krisophobics
Zoots
Cat Face
The Dream Team
 Applause

A slight anti-climax at the quiz finale as Janet from Handsfree Lightsabres didn't want to listen to the final question - she wanted to choose B. In the end I gave her the question and she still went with B as the answer and won £100 as a result - what's the odds of that? 1-in-4 to be exact.

Next week there's the halloween punch, the scary questions and terrifying music - the Fancy Dress AND a photographer on hand to record it all. What more could we want? A £25 cash jackpot? Ok.

Until next time

Sir James

Honeymonsters Stand Above Other Teams...

18/10/2012

Picture
Gallus was absolutely rammed full of folk the night, but it was some familiar faces who showed the new cohort how to get their quiz on.

Handsfree Lightsabres were at their third quiz in three days and obviously all the practice paid off as they were riding high with full marks at the mid-way point.

This was when Honeymonsters turned on the style and their final round gamble was enough to see them win by a single point.

Here's how it finished...
Honeymonsters: Lovers not Punchers  Winners
Jimmy Savile's Damp Cigar
Handsfree Lightsabres
Quizzley Bears
Gee Quiz
The Bottle Merchants - our joke was too damn offensive. Ask us later what it was!
Zoots
B&H
Sub-Atomic Leslie
FUD
Daft Spunk
Fact Hunt
Stuck in the middle
Pinguton
Team Smirnoff
Steptoe & Son
Jimmy Savile Sucked Me Off Applause

One of the highlights of the night was Honeymonster Stu being told he was barred from the pub after the trouble he caused Friday night. An amusing case of mistaken identity, that was thankfully resolved in time for him to claim the winners case of booze!

A BIG thanks to B&H for their top quality James Bond poster to advertise next week's £100 rollover. It was only a small irony that it was them who got beat by The Beast to ensure their poster is up to date! Awkward.

Next week then it's a £100 special with pumpkin designing contest for the fancy dress Halloween special in a fortnight.

Bring it on!

Sir James

Handsfree Lightsabres Win on Wednesdays!

11/10/2012

Picture
Handsfree Lightsabres and Fact Hunt both went into the final round tonight in the lead. Amazingly they both fucked up the final round and still managed to both come joint first.

Of course, when it comes down to a head-to-head the sensible man bets on Janet's bazookas and right enough they blasted poor Christina from Fact Hunt right in the face back to second place. This made quiz legend Janet the envy of the whole pub. Especially the guys...

Here's how it finished!

Handsfree Lightsabres  Tiebreak Champions
Fact Hunt  Poster Designers
Big Kahuna Burger
If Yer Gran Wisnae Yer Gran, Wid Ye?
Briggy Boys
Quizzly Bears
FUD
Martin Cassidy: Jimmy Savile's Prodigy, doing it for the kids AKA Honeymonsters
Tequila Mocking Bird  Round of Applause

The countdown to the Fancy Dress Halloween Theme Quiz special reaches 3 weeks now - I can almost smell rotten burning pumpkins, haribo and disappointment in the air. Facebook Event is here for the Halloween special... http://www.facebook.com/events/541338885881670

No-one could win the money - so it's a £75 fantasmagorical experience next time.

All the best

Sir James

Sub-Atomic Leslie Come From Behind to Win!

4/10/2012

Picture
Turns out there's nothing Sub-standard about Sub-Atomic Leslie. Not only did they 'come from behind' (oops pardon) to win the quiz - Team Captain Lucy knew the answer to The Beast's Bastard Question too. Only bad news was Ken who had come up to face The Beast had other ideas and overruled Lucy. Ouch.

It means The Beast keeps the cash and rolls it up to £50. Thankfully Funnest Team B&H did a terrific Jimmy Savile inspired poster to help draw the crowds next week.

A busy night in Bar Gallus - The Honeymonsters had another 5-point bonus round win to take a lead that only they could throw away - so here's how it finished...
