£176+ Rollover as Pirates get beat by The Beast!

30/7/2012

Picture
A Cross Keys re-union at The Beef tonight ended with a rare double for The Pirates. And when i say that I don't mean double in a dirty double team porn film way honest.

Milngavie's Pirates are world famous for their joke round wins (World = Milngavie) and tonight they proved once more they can cut it with the likes of Stephen Hawking as they won the quiz and the jokes round.

Basically, they Pirates were twice as good as they usually are!

Here's the final ranks...
Rebecca Adlington                Olympic Gold
The Ben Wah Baws Pirates    Winners & Fun Guys
Steven Hawking's Football Boots
3= IAIN
3= Leaks Inc.
2 Pints
G.C.C.S.
MACS
Pat  Applause
S & A  Applause

2 Pints put in a decent show and gave their support to a one-off special pirate take-over quiz starring Glen as host. I will let you know when I agree a fee with his agent...

In other news a few folk watched the Olympics during the quiz. Evidence of Olympic enthusiasm reaching fever pitch? Or just folk watching the telly because it's on. Hard to tell given the high levels of apathy involved.

Next week it's a £175+ jackpot as The Beast beat The Pirates.

Until next time - Chowmein!

Preview: At the Pub Quiz tonight...

At the Quiz tonight... Sir James is back.

Also... The Big Chill Festival, another Catchphrase from Roy Walker and this actual question:

How do you change the note or pitch of a trombone?

That should make it a bit easier for you to win my whopper £150+ Jackpot tonight!

£150+ Rollover as Football Boots

23/7/2012

Not that I was hungover or anything, but it was a night with too much banter in The Beef. So much so that when The Pirates were shouting abuse my only comeback was to hide behind my sequinned tablecloth crying.

Apart from that a top quality night, as a lot of folk found a good way to avoid the monsoon was in the pub. A good way indeed.

Anyway. Here's the finishing order of the teams...

Stephen Hawking's Football Boots Winners
Bar Stewards
Angels and Demons
Pussy Patrol
Fram Massive
J+L
Prawn Ring Pirates
2 Pints of Tennents
Applause

In a shock about-turn in their fortunes 2 Pints went from last weeks champs to this weeks losers.
Whoops.

In other news the cash jackpot escaped West Highland Way walker Steve. It gives us a £150+ jackpot next week! That's pretty decent by the way.

I'll put one of next weeks questions here in advance. I'm good like that.

Cash & Jokes Prizes BOTH Roll-over!

16/7/2012

Picture
The first quiz at The Beef in a good few weeks - thanks to all the regular quiz kittens who came out to get their quiz on including Stephen Hawing's 3-way with Honeymonster and J + L.

A special well done to 2 Pints who are here victorious with their prize. Good work chaps. They overtook newcomers 4-Skins in the final round to take the booze.

Biggest talking point of the night was Team Geordies who took the role of annoying drunks away from Jamie. They struggled throughout the night and so it was no surprise they got the clap.

Without The Pirates, the jokes fell flat on their arse - but the good news is there is a jokes prize roll-over! Double biscuits next week. Also a cash rollover as the cards were impossible and The Beast stopped Andy anyhow.

Next week... I'll try to remember to pack the quiz with the Euro 2012 round!

This week at The Beef Pub Quiz...
A spécial Euro 2012 thème round including the question;

Which team was the only team to win all their group games?

That should help you out.

I'll also be asking about the Men in Black film and about Jason Segel's oscar winning performance!

That's all. Chin chin!

Default Winners for the Quiz this week...

9/7/2012

The 'Summer of Sport' continued to fuck the quiz as mourning Andy Murray fans gave The Beef a wide berth this week!

Up against an emotional Wimbledon final the quiz never stood a chance - those brave souls who did come out to drown their sorrows were therefore crowned default winners.

Proudest moment of their lives. If only it had been that easy for Andy Murray... Oh well, there's always next year for Muzza and next week for the Quiz!

See you then. Hopefully!
