Return of the Captain!

31/3/2013

Picture
Captain Stu returned to Milngavie to rapturous boo's and begrudging adulation as Sir James was off on his annual Sequin run to France, stocking up for a Glittery Summer! Regular chumps Two Pints were posted missing so it was up to the remaining 7 teams to battle it out for the Easter Weekend Booze that was on offer. The Honeymonsters sans the majority of their usual members had a good start along with the most disabled friendly team Stephen Hawkings Football Boots, as the lead swapped several times. The jokes round was surprisingly not won by The Pirates of Burnbrae and their greatly expanded Easter team but instead it was newbies The 3 Stoogies who stole their thunder with a joke any right-wing offensive comedian would have been proud of! In the end despite both early leaders fell away and it was Billy and Her who won despite a strong challenge from North & South. The most competitive team at the quiz walked off with a crate of Strongbow and a Winners certificate. Oofft! The cards were as unpredictable as usual until the unflappable team Walters did their best mystic meg impression to win the right to face off the Beast for a life changing Jackpot of £36....The Beast dominated them like the Bastard he is, which means the money rolls over until next week were it could be as high as £1million but probably won't be. Peace out QuizFo's!

The HORN is back!

24/3/2013

A big night for 2 Pints as they broke Tequila Mockingbird's strangle hold on The Beef to win a box of Blue WKD and £155. Nice.

A record performance from J&L+R tonight too as they managed 4th place.
Last time they were that high it was the 1960's.

Here's how it finished...
2 Pints  Winners
Jellies for Cash
3 Pints
J, R & L
Do Androids Dream of Electric Pirates
Funsters
50 Cents Crack Hoes AKA The Honeymonsters
Tequila Mockingbird
Help  Applause

Poor team Help were so ashamed of their answers they kept their answers most of the night to mark themselves. Saves me a job!

Next week we're starting with £25, and there's worse ways to start, you can trust me on that!

Will the HORN be back again next week?!

There's only one way to find out...

Two Wins in Two Weeks for Tequila Mockingbird!

18/3/2013

Picture
A throbbing St Patricks day party at The Beef Quiz - it couldn't have been better if Ronan Keating himself was there getting beaten up. In a dramatic conclusion to the events of the evening it was last week's winners Tequila Mockingbird who once again claimed victory. This time it was a tiebreaker victory over rival team Two Pints...
Amongst the rest of the rabble here's how it finished...
1= Tequila Mockingbird
1= Two Pints
St Paddy's Day Warriors & James
Yer Maw's Minge Pirates
Fun Guys
Wii not Fit
Jellies for Cash
Craic Hunters  Applause

A big welcome back to the quiz to Shakespeare who was formerly a resident quiz specialist in The Carbeth. I hope his old friends at 19th Hole aren't too upset he has abandoned them to form a new team...

Just as St Paddy himself would have wanted - a classic Irish joke in the Fun Round.

Two Irishmen see an advert saying - "Tree Fellers Wanted"
The first Irishman said "...if Pat had been here, we could have gone for that."
Big news from The Beast as he took the £130 jackpot and made it £155 for next week - what a bastard!

Tequila Mockingbird Win Again + £130 Rollover Next Week...

10/3/2013

Before: With their winners punnet of Stella...

After: With the Stella sold to a rival quizteam for £15!
A big well done to Tequila Mockingbird. Two weeks ago they couldn't hold onto the lead, but there was no stopping them tonight. Even a rare appearance from The Mullitovers couldn't stop the Tequila gang making it two quiz wins in two months. An impressive record.
The Pirates were voted funniest team - a big reversal in fortunes from their performance last night standing up for Comic Relief when poor Glen was booed from the stage!

Alkie John was on top form. He thought the best joke was Team Steeven's vampire gag, clear evidence the Frosty Jack's has muddled his mind, or what's left of it.

2 Pints joke effort was notable for the gasps it drew from their rival teams. This one was another typically topical showstopper from the team;

I heard the Queen's got diarrhoea.
Nobody will have seen Royal skidmarks as bad as that since that tunnel in Paris.
Next week it's a £130 + 10Kr rollover as The Beast got it right up Honeymonster Doug.
Luckily, however, that's just how Doug likes it.

£110 + 10Kr Rollover!

4/3/2013

A bustling night in The Beef with the long overdue return of The Whit Tankz. Also returning this week The Pirates whose impressive scoring had them dominating their rivals til the bonus round.

Wit Tanks grabbed a 9 point bonus to go a point in the lead. The Pirates did come back into the lead, but in the final round they left a few too many spaces blank, which let one wrong answer be their undoing.
Here's how it finished...
Wit Tanks  Winners
The Rusty Water Pirates   Fun Guys
The Durt Fuckin Boaxes
2 Pints
Universally Challenged
Just the 2 of Us  Applause

The Pirates were so pissed off they lost out to some young upstarts in the Bonus Round they didn't make a poster of any kind and they were still complaining about it as I ran off back home to safety!

Hopefully The Pirates will take my The Comic Relief Quiz on Saturday less seriously...
Picture
Apart from The Pirates losing out to a bunch of underagers in the bonus round, the main talking point was the £110 + 10Kr rollover - enough money to be rich for the night and then some.
