A very busy night in Den. Even the back room sex den torture chamber, sorry - I mean 'Restaurant' was packed.

It was one of those nights when anything and everything was going to happen including an amazing 1st in the cards... One quiz team thought the next card would be the same as a queen despite there only being 1 queen left in the deck... they were wrong. What a shame...

 The cards appeared to be fixed. And that's what some folk were cheerfully chanting. So fixed were they that the vast majority of teams had a shot of them before Milngavie quiz legend Gary from Mad Turtles took on The Beast.

Gary lost out to The Beast giving us a £75 jackpot next week - he's not a legend because he wins - he's a legend because of the banter. As you can clearly see on this poster that says "Don't be a cunt, come have a punt" - it's £75 next week.

A Right Royal Pair win the Den quiz last night, but had to do a tie breaker question... "How many times is the word 'sing' sung in the Travis song 'Sing'? Not only is that question fun to say, it's fun to answer too. Have a go. No Googling now!

They tied in first place with Academy Grove, got closer than them with the sing/song/sung question but failed to beat the cairds. Joy, their lady of choice for the question, was not so full of her name after that happened, I can tell you for nothing.


Academy Grove did beat the cairds, however the Beast was as evil as ever, with a fiendish question on Italian Films meaning Sir James will be back with you next Thursday 27th September with a rollover £50 to be won.

11 teams took part with me, so lets see if we can get double that number for Sir James' triumphant return.

I thinks it's doable.

I don't however think that's the correct spelling of "doable"!

In Den all the teams had a go at the cards before last placed Jedworth Swingers took down The Beast and claimed the £50 for themselves. It turns out that you should be taking a magnifying glass to the quiz.

The Den's Reckoning were hoping to extend their run of 2 quiz wins with another victory - they were so disappointed to come 2nd place tonight they only danced to Michael Jackson a little bit as I was leaving. Sad times. 

Tonight's booze prize winners were called Stick it in for Now. I don't know what their team name could be referencing. The joy of compiling a Panini sticker album maybe?!

One thing is certain. They were a little annoyed that all their hard work making this £75 rollover poster was in vain, since there's a standard issue £25 up for grabs next week now... Awkward!

Next week Quizguy Martin is substitute Quizmaster standing in for me while I enjoy the one holiday a year I let myself take. It's a hard-knock life.

Another classy night of fun and frolics in Den. And when I say classy I mean in a Milngavie way, as it was a picture of a giant cock that won the fun round. Classy indeed.

An incredibly close finish tonight as one right answer separated the top four teams. Wowsers.

Despite their magnifying glass Jedward Swingers claimed the round of applause - maybe they need a telescope?

After the excitement of Quizguy Martin's £125 giveaway last week, Sir James is back this week in The Den with more prizes, more cash and more banter than Janet Street Porter and Alan Carr combined. Sorry, I forgot they were the same person for a moment there...

It was young pups The Dens Reckoning who won outright with 14/14 in the Final Round and I "reckon" they deserved it bearing in mind the last round is negatively marked. That Sir James is a toughie!

It was 5th placed Auld YIns thoughthat showed the youngsters of he Den how to do it caird stylie!

They ripped the cards to shreds and then defeated The Beast with one fell swoop.

£125 in their back pockets. Well purses, but same difference really.
